What this website does to be usable by everyone, the standard it is built to, and what to do if something does not work for you.
Our commitment
Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, a website is a service, and it has to be usable by people with disability. We take that as a floor, not a target.
This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which is the standard Australian governments have adopted and the one courts and regulators reference.
What we have done
Every piece of text on the site has been measured against the background it actually sits on, including the plaster texture behind it, and clears the 4.5:1 contrast ratio Level AA requires. Large display text clears 3:1. Where a design choice would have failed, the design changed.
The site works from the keyboard alone. There is a skip link to the main content, focus is always visible, and nothing traps you.
Every image carries alternative text that describes the finish and the surface, written for that image rather than generated.
Headings are properly nested, form fields have real labels, and errors are announced rather than only shown in red.
Video is decorative, silent and carries no speech, so there is nothing to caption. If your device or browser is set to reduce motion, the videos do not play by themselves — you get the still frame and a play button, and the page's animations stop.
Text can be resized to 200% and the layout reflows down to a narrow phone without side-scrolling.
Where we know we fall short
The client strip on the home page moves on its own. It stops when your pointer is over it or when you tab into it, and it does not move at all if you have asked for reduced motion, but there is no visible pause button. We think this meets WCAG 2.2.2; we would rather say so plainly than claim it is beyond question.
This site has been tested against the guidelines and with a keyboard. It has not yet been audited by an independent accessibility specialist or tested with every screen reader.
If something does not work
Tell us. Email pavle@wallsbypavle.com.au or call 0410 391 357 and describe what happened and what you were trying to do. We will fix it and we will tell you when it is fixed.
If you need any information on this site in another format — larger print, a plain document, or read to you over the phone — ask and we will provide it at no cost.
Let's talk about your wall.
Tell me the suburb and what the surface is, and I'll come back with what it can take and what it will cost.
